About Argyresthia austerella Zeller, 1873
Argyresthia austerella is a moth species that belongs to the family Yponomeutidae. This species is found in North America, with confirmed records from the states of Florida, Texas, Oklahoma, Ohio, Kentucky, Illinois, Missouri, New Hampshire, and Maryland. Adult moths of this species have a wingspan ranging from 8 to 9 mm. Their forewings have a white base color marked by distinct dark brown patterns. The entire costal edge and the apical (outer, tip) region of the forewing are mottled with dark brown, with the white ground color appearing only as small dots and dashes in these areas, most noticeably in the apical section. Before the middle of the costa (front edge of the wing), there is a dark brown, almost black inwardly oblique streak that extends all the way to the wing fold. A broader blackish-brown fascia runs parallel to the first costal streak, starting from just beyond the middle of the costa and reaching the opposite costal edge. A third dark streak lies parallel to the first two streaks at the apical third of the wing, and this streak is usually at least partially diffused into the dark brown coloring of the wing's apical region.
