About Argyreia cuneata (Willd.) Ker Gawl.

Argyreia cuneata (Willd.) Ker Gawl. is a perennial climbing shrub that reaches a height of 150 to 200 centimeters. Its stems are covered in soft white hairs. Its leaves measure approximately 6 centimeters long by 2.5 centimeters wide, and have wedge-shaped bases. The flowers of this species are purple, and are about 5 centimeters long. The seeds are brown, elliptically shaped, and around 1 centimeter long. Similar to the seeds of Argyreia nervosa, the seeds of A. cuneata contain various ergoline alkaloids, including chanoclavines and lysergic acid amides. In traditional medicine, the leaves of this plant are used to treat diabetes.
