About Argiope radon Levi, 1983
Description: The carapace of Argiope radon, the hard upper shell portion of its body, is dark brown at the top and gradually fades to white toward the outer parts of the shell. Its sternum is generally black, except for its middle section, which is white. The dorsum of the abdomen is also white, and is covered with white hairs. Additionally, the abdomen is bordered by dark black, and has black posterior tips. Habitat: Unlike other Argiope species, Argiope radon is found in aggregations around riverbanks and streams. These spiders build their webs near vegetation that overhangs water. Geographic distribution: Argiope radon is distributed across the Northern Territory and Queensland states of Australia, where it occurs in semi-arid tropical savannas that have distinct wet and dry seasons.
