About Argiope amoena L.Koch, 1878

Argiope amoena L.Koch, 1878 shows clear sexual dimorphism, similar to other related species in its genus: females are significantly larger than males. This species is naturally distributed across China, Korea, Taiwan, and Japan, and has been introduced to Hawaii. Within Korea, it occurs across the entire Korean Peninsula. Argiope amoena builds orb webs with distinctive X-shaped stabilimenta. It places these webs between trees and bushes in sunny open areas in mountains and grasslands.
