Their wings and the veins running through their wings are black, and often carry a blue metallic sheen. The pronotum and legs of adults are also black. The most noticeable feature of adult Arge pagana is its large, rounded yellow abdomen. Adults have a black head and black thorax, and their legs are mostly black. The larvae of this species reach about 25 mm in length. They are pale green with black dots, and have a yellow head. This species occurs in the Palearctic realm.
