About Ardozyga nyctias (Meyrick, 1904)

Ardozyga nyctias is a moth species that belongs to the family Gelechiidae. It was first described by Edward Meyrick in 1904. This species is found in Australia, with confirmed records from southern Queensland and New South Wales. The wingspan of this moth measures approximately 18 mm, or 0.71 inches.

On the forewings, the base color is dark fuscous, speckled with ashy-grey scales. There is a distinct pale ochreous dot at the middle of the forewing's base. The stigmata are moderately sized, dark fuscous, and marked with accompanying white scales; the plical stigma sits slightly beyond the first discal stigma. Faint grey-whitish dots run along the posterior half of the costa and the termen. The hindwings are fuscous, and grow darker toward their posterior region. The larvae of Ardozyga nyctias feed on the young shoots of Corymbia torelliana, and live between leaves that they bind together with silk.
