About Ardozyga catarrhacta (Meyrick, 1904)
Ardozyga catarrhacta is a moth species that belongs to the family Gelechiidae. This species was first described by Edward Meyrick in 1904. It is endemic to Australia, with all confirmed records coming from the state of New South Wales. This moth has an approximate wingspan of 9 millimeters, which equals 0.35 inches. Its forewings are a shining whitish-ochreous shade, and feature five oblique dark fuscous marks or spots along the costa. The basal spot is very small, while the remaining spots grow larger toward the posterior end of the wing, with the last two spots merging into one. A broad dark fuscous streak runs along the dorsal edge of the forewing, extending from the base of the wing to the tornus. This streak has pointed ends, and its upper edge projects outward at the one-quarter mark of the wing, and projects more strongly at the two-thirds mark. A small dark fuscous spot also sits along the termen directly beneath the wing apex. The hindwings of Ardozyga catarrhacta are a pale whitish-grey color.
