About Arctostaphylos silvicola Jeps. & Wiesl.

Arctostaphylos silvicola Jeps. & Wiesl. is a large shrub that reaches at least 1 meter in height, and is known to grow taller than 6 meters, with a tree-like appearance. Its bark is smooth and dark red. The leaves are greenish-gray, sometimes slightly woolly in texture, oval in shape, and can grow up to 3.5 centimeters long. This shrub produces flowers arranged in inflorescences; individual flowers are the characteristic long, urn-shaped blooms of manzanitas. After flowering, it forms drupes that are 6 to 12 millimeters wide. This species grows in coniferous forest and chaparral habitats on inland marine sands.
