The scientific name of this species is Arcinella cornuta Conrad, 1866. Its shell is quadrangular to obliquely trigonal in shape. During its early growth stage, A. cornuta attaches itself to surfaces; after this stage, it becomes free-living. The shell has seven to nine radial rows of pleated radial ribs, which are covered by large spines, and there is coarse pitting between the ribs. The exterior of the shell is creamy white, while the interior is white with flushed pink and/or yellow coloration. This species typically inhabits coral reefs.
