About Archonias brassolis (Fabricius, 1776)

Archonias is a monotypic genus of butterflies belonging to the family Pieridae. Its only species is Archonias brassolis, commonly known as the cattleheart white. This species ranges from Central America southward through most of South America. The wingspan of the subspecies A. b. rubrosparsa measures 56 to 65 millimeters, while the wingspan of the subspecies A. b. approximata measures 31 to 34 millimeters. Adult A. b. approximata have been recorded feeding on nectar from Eupatorium species.
