About Arborophila campbelli (Robinson, 1904)

This bird species, Arborophila campbelli, is characterized by mottled olive-brown plumage and a gray breast. Its head is black with white bands, red skin surrounds the eyes, and legs are typically varying shades of red. Most adult individuals reach a length of around 28 centimeters (11 inches). Females are slightly smaller, with duller coloration on the head and legs. Juveniles usually have rufous coloration, with some barring on the breast. This partridge occurs in specific areas of the Malay Peninsula, within the territories of Malaysia and Thailand. No vagrancy or migratory behavior has been recorded, so the species is presumed to be sedentary. It primarily lives in montane forests with dense undergrowth, and is most often found in the upper dipterocarp zone at elevations between 1000 and 1600 meters (3,280–5,250 ft).
