There was long - standing taxonomic confusion between Arachniodes amabilis and A. rhomboidea; some saw the latter as a synonym of the former, but after a 2019 study and examining Nepalese specimens, the authors agree to recognize A. rhomboidea.

About Arachniodes amabilis (Blume) Tindale

Notes: For a long time, there was taxonomic confusion between two species, Arachniodes amabilis and A. rhomboidea (Schott) Ching (1964: 383). Tindale (1961), Ching (1964), and Fraser-Jenkins (2018) recognized both species. Nakaike (1975) and He et al. (2013) considered A. rhomboidea a synonym of A. amabilis. After our recent molecular study (Lu et al. 2019), we examined two additional voucher specimens of A. rhomboidea from Nepal and now agree to recognize A. rhomboidea.
