About Aquilegia atrovinosa Popov ex Gamajun.

Aquilegia atrovinosa, formally described as Aquilegia atrovinosa Popov ex Gamajun., produces dark purple flowers that measure 3โ€“3.5 cm (1.2โ€“1.4 in) across. Each flower has incurved spurs roughly 1.5 cm (0.59 in) long. The plant typically reaches a height of 30โ€“60 cm (12โ€“24 in), and may occasionally grow as tall as 90 cm (35 in).

This species is native mainly to temperate areas of Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and northern Xinjiang. It grows at elevations between 1,800โ€“3,600 m (5,900โ€“11,800 ft), found in forests and montane river valleys.
