Aquarius paludum (Fabricius, 1794) is a species of pond skater belonging to the family Gerridae. This species was first formally described in 1794 by Johan Christian Fabricius. It has a wide distribution across low and middle latitudes of Eurasia, ranging from western Europe all the way to East Asia. Within the United Kingdom, Aquarius paludum occurs across England and Wales, and it is counted among the larger pond skater species found in the country. In this region, it mainly inhabits ponds, rivers, lakes and streams located in South East England.
