About Aptostichus simus Chamberlin, 1917

Aptostichus simus is a species of trapdoor spider belonging to the family Euctenizidae. It is a medium-sized mygalomorph spider found across the United States and Mexico. Aptostichus simus construct deep burrows in sand dunes located in California and Mexico, in areas near coastal vegetation. Their burrows are lined entirely with silk, and closed with a heavily camouflaged trapdoor made from a mix of sand and silk.
