About Appias zarinda (Boisduval, 1836)

Appias zarinda, commonly called the eastern orange albatross, is a butterfly species belonging to the family Pieridae. This species is found in Sulawesi and the Maluku Islands, Indonesia. Four recognized subspecies exist with documented ranges. A. z. zarinda occurs across Sulawesi, Kabaena, the Tukangbesi Islands, and Peleng Island within the Banggai Islands. A. z. bouruensis, described by Wallace in 1867, is found on Buru. A. z. phestus, described by Westwood in 1888, occurs on the Sangihe Islands and Talise Islands. A. z. sulana, described by Fruhstorfer in 1899, is found on Mangole Island in the Sula Islands.
