About Apollonias barbujana subsp. barbujana
Persea barbujana, commonly known as Canary laurel or barbusano, is a tree species belonging to the laurel family, Lauraceae. This species is endemic to the Macaronesian islands of Madeira (including Porto Santo) and the Canary Islands. It is often classified as the only species in the genus Apollonias. Molecular phylogenetic analyses have found that this species is nested within the genus Persea, which also contains the Macaronesian endemic Persea indica. The La Gomera subspecies of this plant is distinct and classified as endangered.
