The blacktip cardinalfish, scientifically named Apogon atradorsatus Heller & Snodgrass, 1903, is a reef fish that occurs in the South Pacific. It inhabits rocky reefs at depths between 3 and 45 meters. During the day, it shelters under ledge overhangs and other shaded locations on rocky reefs and slopes, and it feeds in open water at night. This species is distributed around the Galapagos, Cocos, and Malpelo Islands.
