About Aplysina fulva (Pallas, 1766)

Aplysina fulva, commonly called the scattered pore rope sponge, is a sponge species that belongs to the family Aplysinidae. This species occurs in the Caribbean Sea and in waters off the coast of Brazil. Before 1996, researchers considered Aplysina fulva and Aplysina fistularis to be a single species. This classification was later corrected after differences in the two sponges' secondary metabolites showed they are distinct species.
