This species, Aplysia sydneyensis G.B.Sowerby I, 1869, has a shell that is compressed and shaped as elongate-perpendicular. The median region of the shell is chestnut in color, fading to pale horn color toward the margins. The shell's apex is obtuse, terminal, and slightly reflected and incurved. The dorsal margin is convex, the upper margin is straight, the outer lip is straight, and the lower margin is subquadrate. This is a marine species that is endemic to Australia, where it occurs off the coasts of New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania, Victoria, and Western Australia.
