About Apletodon incognitus Hofrichter & Patzner, 1997
Apletodon incognitus is a species of clingfish that belongs to the family Gobiesocidae. This species is endemic to the region stretching from the north-eastern Atlantic Ocean to the north-western Mediterranean Sea. Juvenile individuals, which measure roughly 1 to 2 centimetres (0.39 to 0.79 inches) in standard length (SL), are frequently found associated with sea urchins and living within Posidonia oceanica beds. Adult Apletodon incognitus hide under stones covered with red coralline algae, and inside empty mussel shells located near beds of Posidonia and Cymodocea nodosa. Within Posidonia beds, this species is often sympatric with Opeatogenys gracilis.
