About Aphyllanthes monspeliensis L.

Aphyllanthes is a genus of flowering plants that contains only one species: Aphyllanthes monspeliensis, which is endemic to the western Mediterranean region. This genus is the sole genus in Aphyllanthoideae, a subfamily of the plant family Asparagaceae. Previously, Aphyllanthoideae was treated as a separate plant family called Aphyllanthaceae. Aphyllanthes are popular plants for rock gardens, matching their natural preferred habitat. As they are native to the Mediterranean region, they are well adapted to hot, dry growing conditions. The species also produces large, bright flowers that are very attractive, which has led to increased cultivation of this species for the commercial plant market.
