About Anthus chii Vieillot, 1818

The yellowish pipit, with the currently accepted scientific name Anthus chii, is a bird species that belongs to the Motacillidae family. This species can be found in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, French Guiana, Guyana, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Uruguay, and Venezuela. Its natural habitats are temperate grassland, subtropical or tropical seasonally wet or flooded lowland grassland, and pastureland. Before 2022, this species was officially known under the scientific name Anthus lutescens. Following a 2021 study, the International Ornithological Congress renamed the species to Anthus chii. This name was originally used for the species by Louis Pierre Vieillot when he described it in 1818, and it takes taxonomic precedence over the earlier name Anthus lutescens.
