About Anthothoe albocincta (Hutton, 1879)

This species, Anthothoe albocincta, reaches a maximum diameter of 30 millimeters and displays variable coloration. It can typically be identified by its orange or green oral disc, paired with distinct, short white stripes on its column. It has many tentacles. Anthothoe albocincta is distributed in the waters of southeastern Australia (including Victoria, Tasmania, and New South Wales) and New Zealand. This species inhabits intertidal and subtidal zones, living in rock pools across many types of substrate. It most commonly occurs on rock, and is sometimes found on sponges, algae, gastropod shells, and ascidians. It can be found at depths down to approximately 25 metres (82 ft).
