About Anthomyia quinquemaculata Macquart, 1839

Anthomyia quinquemaculata is a species of anthomyiid fly in the family Anthomyiidae, first described by Macquart in 1839. This species occurs mainly in the Czech Republic, France, Italy, Greece, Spain, Portugal, the Near East, and North Africa. It can be identified by key morphological features: it has five distinct black spots on its thorax, where the black spot at the base of the wing connects directly to the dorsal-lateral spot. Its scutellum is gray only at the apex. Its tibial setae are short, and the seta located in the middle of the second tibia is the same length as the diameter of the tibia. Females of this species have widely spaced eyes.
