About Anthocharis sara Lucas, 1852
This species is Anthocharis sara Lucas, 1852, commonly known as Sara's orange-tip. In adult individuals, the female has orange-tipped wing ends. The male has ultraviolet-reflective wing tips; these tips look orange to human eyes, but appear 'bee purple' to other butterflies of this species. Females lay creamy white eggs, which change to orange-red within a few hours after being laid. Fifth instar larvae of A. sara are dark green, with small black pinacula. Mature larvae are plain green, and form a light brown, thorn-shaped pupa when they finish development.
