About Anthocharis julia Edwards, 1872

Anthocharis julia, commonly called the Southern Rocky Mountain Orangetip, is a species of butterfly. It is located in the southern Rocky Mountains, on the eastern side of the range. The caterpillars of this butterfly feed on species of rock cress in the genus Arabis. Adult butterflies feed on flower nectar from their host plants, along with nectar from thistles, fiddleneck, and brodiaeas. This species can be found in habitats including forested riparian areas, foothill canyons, and washes, most often within oak woodland.
