About Anthocharis bambusarum Oberthür, 1876
Scientific name: Anthocharis bambusarum Oberthür, 1876. This description is from Seitz: A. bambusarum specimens from Tse-Kiang, China, are somewhat larger than Anthocharis cardamines. The whole forewing, above and beneath, is uniformly dull orange-red. The forewing apex is less broadly dark, not black, but greenish. The black discocellular spot is less distinct than in A. cardamines, and the hindwing is very similar to that of A. cardamines above and beneath. The taxon extensa, described as a new form by Röber, is now considered a synonym of Anthocharis bambusarum. This form, found in Nanking, China, is a transitional link connecting A. bambusarum to the next form speciosa. Almost all of the forewing of extensa is orange-red, with only around one-fourth of the wing light yellow. Its orange is deeper than in other forms, but not as dark as in most A. bambusarum.
