The scientific name of this species is Anthocercis littorea Labill. In its native range, it typically grows between 0.6 and 3 metres tall, and produces yellow flowers year-round. It was first formally described by French naturalist Jacques Labillardière in 1806, in the publication Novae Hollandiae Plantarum Specimen.
