About Anthericum ramosum L.

Anthericum ramosum L. reaches an average height of 30โ€“70 centimetres (12โ€“28 in). Its grass-like leaves grow up to 50 centimetres (20 in) long, 2โ€“6 millimetres (0.08โ€“0.2 in) wide, and are generally much shorter than the plant's inflorescence. It produces an erect, paniculate inflorescence, with branched flower spikes โ€“ the Latin epithet ramosus refers to this branching, which distinguishes it from the related species Anthericum liliago. This species has six pure white, scentless tepals that measure 10โ€“13 millimetres (0.4โ€“0.5 in) long, matching the length of its six stamens. Its anthers are bright yellow. Flowering occurs from June to August. The fruit is a capsule that is spherical to three-faced in shape. Flowers of Anthericum ramosum are pollinated by hymenopterans, and its seeds are distributed by wind. This species is present across most of Europe, where it is more common in southern European countries. It is also widespread in Central Asia and Russia. Anthericum ramosum grows in sunny locations with calcareous soils, in habitats including semiarid grasslands, slopes, and forest edges. In the Alps, it can be found at altitudes from 0 to 1,600 metres (0โ€“5,249 ft) above sea level.
