About Anteos maerula (Fabricius, 1775)

Anteos maerula, commonly known as the angled sulphur or yellow angled-sulphur, is a butterfly species that belongs to the Pieridae family. This species is native to the region ranging from Peru to Mexico. Rare migratory individuals have been recorded as far north as eastern Nebraska, southeastern Arizona, southwestern New Mexico, southern Texas, Mississippi, and Florida. The wingspan of adult Anteos maerula measures between 82 and 117 mm. The larvae of this butterfly feed on plants from the Cassia genus, including Cassia emarginata.
