About Antennaria monocephala DC.

Antennaria monocephala, commonly known as pygmy pussytoes, is a flowering plant belonging to the family Asteraceae. It is native to arctic and alpine regions of North America, including Greenland, Labrador, Quebec, the three Canadian Arctic Territories, Alaska, British Columbia, Alberta, and Wyoming, as well as the Chukotka (Chukchi) Peninsula of Russia. This is a small herb that rarely grows more than 15 centimeters (6 inches) tall. Male and female flowers grow on separate individual plants, and some populations are recorded where all individuals are female. Two subspecies are recognized: Antennaria monocephala subsp. angustata (Greene) Hultén, and Antennaria monocephala subsp. monocephala.
