About Antennaria marginata Greene
Antennaria marginata (common name whitemargin pussytoes) is a North American flowering plant species belonging to the Asteraceae family. It is native to northern Mexico, where it occurs in the states of Chihuahua and Coahuila, and to the southwestern United States, where it grows in Arizona, New Mexico, western Texas' Jeff Davis County, Colorado, Utah, southern Nevada's Clark County, and southern California's San Gregorio Mountain in San Bernardino County. This is a small plant that rarely grows more than 20 centimeters (8 inches) in height. Both the scientific epithet "marginata" and the "whitemargin" portion of its common name refer to the leaf structure of the species: leaves are hairless across most of their blade, but have a border of white, wool-like hairs along the edge. Antennaria marginata is dioecious, which means male and female flowers grow on separate individual plants. Some existing populations of this species have been recorded to contain no male plants at all.
