About Antaeotricha humilis Zeller, 1855
Antaeotricha humilis, commonly known as the dotted anteotricha moth, is a moth species belonging to the family Depressariidae. It was first described by Philipp Christoph Zeller in 1855. This species is found in North America, and has been specifically recorded from the U.S. states of Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and West Virginia. The wingspan of adult Antaeotricha humilis is approximately 14 mm. Adult moths are greyish, appearing almost white, with faint, obscure patches of very pale fuscous on the forewings. A small brown spot is located within the dorsal margin before the middle of the wing, a second small brown spot lies a little behind the first spot on the fold, and a third small brown spot sits at the end of the disc. The larvae of this moth feed on species in the Quercus (oak) genus, and tie the leaves of their host plant.
