About Annulohypoxylon thouarsianum (Lév.) Y.M.Ju, J.D.Rogers & H.M.Hsieh
Annulohypoxylon thouarsianum grows on the bark of decaying hardwood trees. Its fruiting body is sessile, and measures 1 to 5 centimetres (1⁄2 to 2 inches) wide. The surface of the fruiting body is dark brown or black, with a rough texture caused by a high density of perithecia. This fungus is most commonly distributed along the United States West Coast, the eastern United States, and Mexico.
