About Anisus vortex (Linnaeus, 1758)

Anisus vortex (Linnaeus, 1758) has a shell that ranges from 0.8 to 1.1 mm in height, and reaches up to 9 mm in diameter. The shell can have up to 7 whorls. It is flattened on its functional lower side, and concave on its upper side. On the upper surface, the whorls are flat, and are only separated by a slightly pronounced seam. On the lower surface, the whorls are more curved, and are separated by a distinct suture. The shell has a very sharp keel. This species ranges from Europe, across the Palearctic, to Siberia. It has been recorded in Belgium, the Czech Republic (where it is classified as least concern, LC), Germany, Great Britain, Ireland, the Netherlands, Poland, and Slovakia.
