About Anisoplaca cosmia Bradley, 1956

Anisoplaca cosmia has a wingspan of approximately 16 millimeters, and its hindwings are light grey. This species is visually similar to the New Zealand species Anisoplaca archyrota, but the two can be distinguished by a difference in the coloration of the labial palpus. In A. cosmia, the labial palpus is fuscous-black up to the top of the underside of the second segment, while in A. archyrota, the labial palpus is only fuscous-black on the bottom two thirds. This species is native to Norfolk Island, but it has become established in New Zealand, where it has been recorded in the regions of Auckland, Hawkes Bay, and Gisborne.
