About Anisomorpha buprestoides (Stoll, 1813)
Anisomorpha buprestoides (Stoll, 1813), commonly called the southern two-striped walkingstick, devil rider, or musk mare, is a species of stick insect belonging to the order Phasmatodea, a group also known as phasmids or walkingsticks. This species is found across the entire southeastern region of the United States. For a stick insect, Anisomorpha buprestoides is large and stout. It is brown overall with three noticeable long black longitudinal stripes. Adult females have an average length of 67.7 mm (2.67 inches), while adult males are smaller, more slender, and average 41.7 mm (1.64 inches) in length.
