About Anepischetosia maccoyi (Lucas & Frost, 1894)
Anepischetosia maccoyi (Lucas & Frost, 1894), commonly known by multiple common names including the highlands forest-skink, highlands forest skink, Maccoy's elf skink, and McCoy's skink, is a species of lizard. It belongs to the subfamily Eugongylinae of the skink family Scincidae. This species is the only member of the monotypic genus Anepischetosia, and it is endemic to Australia. Anepischetosia maccoyi is distributed across the Australian states of New South Wales, South Australia, and Victoria. The species' preferred natural habitat is forest. There is conflicting information about the mode of reproduction of Anepischetosia maccoyi. It has been suggested to be ovoviviparous, while The Reptile Database classifies the species as oviparous. However, in Lucas and Frost's original 1894 description of the species, they recorded that young develop within the parent's body, with eight or nine young being born in January or February.
