About Anemia mexicana Klotzsch

Anemia mexicana Klotzsch grows from a horizontal rhizome that is roughly 2 millimeters (0.08 inches) in diameter. The rhizome is covered in numerous stiff, dark brown hairs, and produces fronds at spaced intervals rather than growing them in a tight clump. The fronds themselves are upright and straight, with a total length ranging from 30 to 60 centimeters (10 to 20 inches), and occasionally reaching as short as 15 centimeters (5.9 inches). Approximately half of a frond's total length is made up by the stipe, which is the leaf stalk located below the blade. The stipe is about 1 millimeter (0.04 inches) thick, hairless, and straw-colored.
