Anechura bipunctata (Fabricius, 1781) has a total body length, including cerci, of 12–20 millimetres (0.47–0.79 inches). This species is winged, with a black body that has a yellow marking on the elytra. Its head, legs, and the sides of the pronotum are yellowish orange. The antennae of Anechura bipunctata have 9 to 12 segments, and the pronotum is wider than it is long. Males of this species have double-curved cerci. The larvae of Anechura bipunctata are black. This species is found across most of Europe. It is a montane species that inhabits areas at high elevations over 2000 meters above sea level.
