About Andryala glandulosa Lam.

Two taxa of Andryala are endemic to Madeira and are usually recognized as subspecies of A. glandulosa. One is subsp. glandulosa, and the other is either recognized as subsp. varia or subsp. cheiranthifolia. However, the names for the latter taxon are misapplied. The original material these names are based on actually represents the same taxon as A. glandulosa subsp. glandulosa, according to Ferreira and colleagues in 2023. The second taxon has been renamed as Andryala subglabrata.
