About Andropolia aedon Grote, 1880

Andropolia aedon, originally described by Augustus Radcliffe Grote in 1880, is a moth species belonging to the family Noctuidae. This species is distributed in North America, ranging from British Columbia and Alberta in the north down to California in the south. It has a wingspan of 42 to 46 millimeters, which equals 1.7 to 1.8 inches. Adult moths of this species are active in flight from July through August. The larvae of Andropolia aedon feed on plants from the genera Alnus and Acer, as well as the species Holodiscus discolor and Physocarpus capitatus.
