About Ancistronycha erichsonii Bach, 1854

This species of beetle, Ancistronycha erichsonii Bach, 1854, has a reddish-orange head that is almost as wide as its pronotum, which is the same reddish-orange color as the head. Its elytra range from yellow-ochre to yellow-brown, and have black spots at their tips, which are sometimes called apical spots. The hind feet of the beetle are relatively massive and broad. The total body length of adult specimens of this species falls between 11 and 14 mm (0.43 to 0.55 inches). Ancistronycha erichsonii is distributed across France, Belgium, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Czechia, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary, Romania, Serbia, Montenegro, Ukraine, Russia, Georgia and Türkiye. It is a submontane to montane species that can be found in forest edges, clearings and meadows.
