About Anatrachyntis rileyi (Walsingham, 1882)

Anatrachyntis rileyi, commonly called the pink cornworm, pink bud moth, or pink scavenger, is a moth species belonging to the family Cosmopterigidae, also known as cosmet moths. This species was first formally described by Lord Walsingham in 1882, from specimens collected in the southern United States. It is likely that this species was introduced to North America, rather than being native to the continent. Today, it occurs across most warm and tropical regions of the globe, with recorded locations including northern Australia, the Galápagos Islands, Hawaii, the Antilles, South America, and Mauritius.
