About Anasimyia bilinearis (Williston, 1887)

Anasimyia bilinearis, commonly called the two-lined swamp fly, is an uncommon species of syrphid fly that has been observed across North America. Like other hoverflies, members of this species can hold nearly motionless while in flight. Adult hoverflies of this species are also referred to as flower flies, because they are commonly found on flowers, where they get energy-giving nectar and protein-rich pollen. Larvae in the Anasimyia genus are the rat-tailed type and live in aquatic environments.
