About Anas andium (P.L.Sclater & Salvin, 1873)

Anas andium, commonly called the Andean teal, is a species of duck native to South America. Like other teal ducks, it is classified in the diverse genus Anas, and more specifically it is counted among the "true" teals of the subgenus Nettion. This species is only found in the Andean highlands of Colombia, Venezuela, and Ecuador. It lives in freshwater wetlands, and prefers palustrine habitat over rivers. The International Union for Conservation of Nature does not consider this species threatened.
