About Anarsia molybdota Meyrick, 1904

Anarsia molybdota is a moth species belonging to the family Gelechiidae. It is native to Australia, where it has been recorded in the states and territories of Queensland, Victoria, New South Wales, the Australian Capital Territory, South Australia, and Western Australia. This species has a wingspan of 10–14 mm, or 0.39–0.55 inches. Its forewings are a dusky fuscous color, speckled with white and marked with a small number of scattered dark fuscous scales. Obscure, faint small darker spots are present along the wing margins and in the disc at the three-fourths position of the wing. A distinct, well-defined triangular dark fuscous blotch sits on the costa around the middle of the forewing, reaching halfway across the wing. The hindwings are whitish-fuscous, thinly scaled and semitransparent, becoming darker fuscous toward the apex and termen.
