About Anarrhotus fossulatus Simon, 1902
Anarrhotus is a genus of jumping spiders. The only described species in this genus is Anarrhotus fossulatus, which is endemic to Malaysia. This is one of multiple monotypic spider genera native to Southeast Asia. Even though these genera were first described over a hundred years ago, no details about their habitats have been recorded, though genital and sometimes other anatomical drawings are now available for several of these genera. Anarrhotus fossulatus is only known from a single male specimen, and the pedipalp of this specimen was drawn by Proszynski in 1984. Eugène Simon, the original describer of the genus, placed it close to the genus Pancorius. The male of Anarrhotus fossulatus is 6 millimeters in body length. Plexippoides nishitakensis, originally described in 1907 by Strand, was initially placed in the Anarrhotus genus, but was transferred out of the genus by Proszynski in 1984.
