About Anadara transversa (Say, 1822)

Anadara transversa, commonly known as the Transverse ark clam, is a species of clam that belongs to the family Arcidae. Its native range extends along the Atlantic coast of North America, from Massachusetts to Texas, and it is also found in the West Indies. This species is invasive in the eastern Mediterranean Sea, where it was first recorded in Turkey in 1977, then in Greece in 1993, and finally along the Italian coast near Venice in 2000.
